History
Age of Myth
Legend has it that the original Clans Verminus conisted of just two smaller clans - Clan Klaw and Clan Skarrik.[4b]
Age of Chaos
As war rages across the Mortal Realms, Verminus and Clans Ikk go to war against each other with each holding four seats on the Council of Thirteen, the remaining seven other Great Clans scurry to ally with one side or the other and the conflict rages for twenty six years without a clear winner. Finally, Clans Pestilens assist Verminus by infecting their enemy with a variation on the frothjaw plague - over the next two years, the skaven of Ikk are transformed into ferocious animals, causing more havoc but eventually being culled. Yet the war between the clans continues. [4a]
Skreech Verminking arrives in the masterburrow, finding it torn apart by warfare. He reduces a number of the Lords of decay including Grand Clawlord Thrakk into slime with a twitch of his tail and orders that amusing as the war is to him and the Horned Rat, now the remaining skaven must focus on the other followers of Chaos and the remaining strongholds of Order.[4a]
Age of Sigmar
For many years Clawlord Splitfang has fought over the ruins of a duardin karak, but suddenly his Clans Eshin rivals depart leaving him to claim his new stronghold. Shortly after Stormcast Eternals of the Astral Templars arrive and overwhelm him and his fortress, any survivors are claimed by operatives of Clan Stryk.[4a]
Anvilheim is constructed unknowingly above the skaven war-burrow of Lurkspine Deeps and thirteen years after its construction, Verminus skaven arise from below, assisted not only by Grey Seers but also Skreech Verminking. Despite the formidable defence by the Anvils of the Heldenhammer, Freeguild and Ironweld Arsenal, the city is lost.[4a]
Organisation
Verminus Clans consist of massive armies of Clanrats and elite Stormvermin led by ruthless warlords known as Clawlords. Clawlords are among the most territorial, belligerent and aggressive of all Skaven. They provide vast quantities of warriors and slaves that are needed for the continued existence of the Skavendom. While lacking in the arcane and technology they possess strength in sheer numbers. Thus the Grey Seers see them as an inexhaustible source of ratpower and even then leaders of the other types of Clans see the value of Stormvermin bodyguards or expendable regiments of Clanrats. The leaders of Verminus Clans do not see this as exploitation and would gladly send thousands of underlings to their deaths to put a member of another clan in debt. [4a][4b]
Clans
Religion
The skaven of the Verminus clans worship the Great Horned Rat as The Great Conqueror, the King of Lashes who commands them to tear enemies apart with claw and tooth and then feast on the corpses.[4a]
