The Great Spider God, or simply the Spider God, is an immense deity, said to have once been a Godbeast, worshipped as an aspect of Gorkamorka by the disparate Stalktribes of the Spiderfang Grots found across the Mortal Realms.[1a][2a]

Religion

The Spiderfang Grots are capable of performing rituals that can purify a land of Chaos taint using the venom of the Spider God, such as when they purified the Rotten Hold, the Dreadhold of Lord Efulgus, and by extension the surrounding Panmyrrian Jungles of Ghyran.[1c]

Grot Shamans are the undisputed rulers of the Stalktribes and Grot Nests of the Spiderfang Grots, for it is said that the divine venom of the Great Spider God flows through their veins.[1d]

Skitterstrand Arachnaroks are worshipped and revered by the Spiderfang Grots. The Grimscuttle tribes of Neferatia, who are renowned for being particularly zealous in their worship of the Spider God, each venerating a different Skitterstrand Arachnarok as their personal tribal demigod.[1e]

The Drizzledeff tribe of the jungles of Humidia daub themselves in riotously coloured warpaint, made from the vivid flora of the region. Their reasoning for doing this is two-fold, for not only does the warpaint serve as a camouflage it also serves as a way of venerating the Spider God and, at least in their belief, bringing them closer to their god.[1e]

Within the dark underbelly of the civilizations of the Mortal Realms there are some a scant few thieves and serial poisoners who pay homage to a deity known as the Scuttling Queen.[2a]

Myths

It is said that the Great Spider God became an aspect of Gorkamorka when it bit the destructive god's foot and was infused with divine energy.[1a][2a]
