Seven Cities, or the Empire of the Seven Cities, is a magocratic empire found along the Brilliant Sea, one of Hysh's oceans. It is centered around seven grand cities, this empire is home to many proud lineages of wizard lords, who are attuned to the Wind of Hysh.[1a]

History

Age of Myth

Pludu Quasque, who hails from the nation himself, claims that the peoples of the Seven Cities are responsible for bringing light and lumination to the other Mortal Realms and have been doing so since the beginning of time.[1a]

Age of Chaos

A Skaven sneaks into the Lyceum of Radiance and steals one of the four crystal tears from the statue of the Weeping Sage, Adembi, and although it is slain before escaping it's soul drags the tear to the hellish afterlife known as Ruin. The loss of the tear causes Adembi, whose soul resides in the statue, to go quiet. Before the tear was stolen Adembi would give council to the Grand Luminance and the group known as the Septarchy.[1a]

Government

The most preeminent mages of the empire are known as the High Hierophants of Light and they reside at the top of the nation's hierarchy, surpassed only by the emperor of the Seven Cities, the Grand Luminance.[1a]

A group known as the Septarchy are also part of the nation's governance.[1a]

Culture

The noble men of the powerful mage houses that rule the nation are known to wear expensive make up, like black kohl under their eyes, and oil their beards. They are also known to wear conical crowns atop their heads.[1a]

According to Pludu Quasque the streets of his home city, Balshizzam, echo with songs that have been sung without reprieve since before the Mortal Realms existed, taught to them by gods more ancient and terrible than the Pantheon of Order.[1a]

The people of the Seven Cities see unity and working with each other as their greatest virtue. While arrogance, pride, and hatred are seen as three of twelve forbidden urges.[1a]
