A Saurus Warrior.

Saurus Warriors are Saurus whose cohorts make up the bulk of most Seraphon armies. Created purely for war and totally loyal to the Slann, they wage war to destroy the forces of Chaos and all those who aid them. Their cohorts are led by an Alpha.[1a]

Spawning

Like all Seraphon they are birthed in spawning pools, coming out of the glowing waters fully formed. Usually an entire cohort of Saurus Warriors is spawned at once which creates an almost telepathic bond among them and allows them to instinctively know what their brothers are about to do.[1a]

Role

Despite their appearance, they are disciplined soldiers of extreme focus and talent capable of performing complex military manoeuvres at a single growled command from their spawn-leaders and alphas.[1a]

The day-to-day duties of a saurus cohort vary but are all related to warfare. On the temple-fleets of the Starborne, they are permitted to roam the world-chambers but are otherwise kept in suspended animation until the skink priesthood activate the revivification engines of the temple-ships through precise rituals not even they understand. They enter battle in flashes of Azyrite energy, their formations running in perfect synchronicity towards their targets.[1a]

Coalesced saurus are more active outside of battle and form the outer defences of a temple-city. Usually they are stationed atop the walls of Seraphon settlements, hunting for prey alongside their spawn brothers to hone their skills or patrolling the choking jungles. Their tough scales and determination make ambushes against them relatively ineffective as even a single saurus that survives would fight on to buy time for reinforcements to arrive. Coalesced saurus are more savage than their Starborne kindred as their natural predatory instincts are amplified by the magic of Azyr joining with the magical energies of the other realms.[1a]

Wargear

A Saurus is armed with many natural weapons such as claws sharp as daggers, muscled bodies, powerful tails that snap leg-bones and jaws capable of crushing skulls or rib cages in a single bite. However, their forged weapons are even more lethal. Some cohorts are armed with spiked Celestite clubs and blades while others are armed with Celestite spears to form spear walls. They also carry shields with bladed edges. [1a]
