Ruin

The Realm of Ruin is the chief demesne of the Great Horned Rat and within it are the many, myriad afterlives of the Skaven race.^[1a]

Each day uncounted millions of skaven souls stream into Ruin via vast black tunnels, entering via a vortex of green and purple lightning. There they tumble into a grey oily, stinking sea and are sucked down into whirlpools. ^[1a]

The land masses of Ruin are cloaked in piles of stinking refuse, some as tall as mountains whilst tunnels burrow down into the earth, the sky is gloomy with the clouds lit by baleful green light. The detritus of a million nations is sprawled across the realm, their broken glories containing treasures as well as rubbish whilst between the mountains of waste, Verminlords stalk and build strongholds. ^[1a]

Nagash makes war upon Ruin, invading through its Realmgates with legions of the dead and vast soul syphons created from the bones of Godbeasts, he is resisted by the Verminlords and their mortal armies. ^[1a]
