Merchant-Prince
Merchant-Princes, also known as Merchant-Lords or Merchant-Kings, are those merchants whose involvement in trade has conferred incredible economic or political power upon them. Such individuals can be found all across the Mortal Realms, especially in the cities and nations of Order.[1a][1b][3a][4a]
Culture
A merchant prince is an individual who has gained incredible influence through their involvement in trading, becoming wealthy and powerful. Such individuals usually hold high positions within many cities across the Mortal Realms such as Floating Market, Culghast, and Duskwall.[1a]
The Free Cities of Sigmar's empire are also known to be home to such individuals, whose influence and reach allow them to live lives of luxury in the more opulent districts of such cities. The Free Cities of Hammerhal Aqsha, Anvilgard, and Brightspear are a few such cities. The realmports of Azyr are also known for their merchant-princes/[2a][3a][4a][5a]
Many of these individuals seek to dominate and monopolize trade and industry across the Mortal Realms. Such as those merchant princes of Azyr and Shyish who compete daily for the Bataari firesilk sold by Far Traders of Bataar. Or the merchant-princes of Culghast who seek to tighten their monopoly on the lethwine trade.[1a]
Notable Merchant Princes
- Khelorastius van Bardo: The infamous Meat-Miser of Odrenn who lived through the late Age of Chaos and early Age of Sigmar by hoarding meat and monopolizing the trade of it in Odrenn, a continent of the Spiral Crux. His depravity brought ruin upon himself, the van Bardo Dynasty, and many cities of Odrenn.[4b]
Known Groups
- Bataar's Trader Guild: The ruling council of merchant-lords that govern the Floating Market and Bataari people.[1b]
- Obsidian Conclave: A group of merchant-princes who operate in Culghast.[1a]
