Isharann Tidecaster summoning the power of the deeps.

The Lore of the Deeps lists the spells used by the Idoneth Deepkin wizards who harness the power of the crushing depths and waves.[1a]

It reflects the abyssal depths of the seas as well as the dark corners of a living being's psyche.[2a] It is the Isharann Tidecasters that can conjure the phantasmal ethersea, allowing aelf and aquatic beast to move and breath within the same space as if they were in their own natural environment.[1b] It is these spells that make travel and war possible possible for the Idoneth, hurling phalanxes vast distances to strike at land and even sending them up rivers and canals to strike deep into a continent's heart.[2d]

However, this power is not solely confined to manipulation of the elements. The Tidecasters can conjure spells from the repressed anguish of the Idoneth, drawn from the curse that echoes their ancestors' torture within the belly of Slaanesh. The spellcasters can summon magics that take the form of crushing waves of despair, black pits of hopelessness, or raging malestorms of horro that shatter the minds of the foe. These enchantments are so potent that some victims believe themselves to be trapped underwater, causing them to drown in their own fear and sorrow.[1b]

It is a matter of debate as to whether the Lore of the Deeps constitutes a unique form of magic, separate from the inherent magics of the realms such as amber or bright magic. Some scholars assert that the Lore of the Deeps or the uncontrollable magic of Chaos are not 'true' lores of magic, but rather strangs of the other lores or twisted manifestations.[2c]
