|Obsidian (short story)
She is the daughter of Vorst Treveign and as the first born mortal of the bloodline was gifted with the Soulblight curse, she grew up as an only child and heir to the powerful vampire family. She grew up believing in honesty, seeing it as a matter of principle, something that was rare in that ancient city.
She fell in love with another vampire noble, Evered Halorecht, the heir to a rival house and they carried on their romance in secret before appealing to their Queen, Neferata to be allowed to marry, knowing that even their parents would not dare forestall her wishes. The Mortarch of Blood granted their request and they were married in the Grand Chapel of Night’s Hunger but barely had the vows been exchanged and the slaves from each others houses been drained of blood when violence errupted.
Both Evered and his mother was killed, and distraught Karya fled the scene only to discover that her own father was behind the plot, hoping to gain favour with their by queen by destroying two great houses and even sacrificing his only daughter. However the Mortach herself intervened and saved Karaya, who would repay her soon after by pledging her own and what remained her of house's loyalty to the queen.
|Acting as one, Treveign and Halorecht could serve your majesty with tremendous strength and loyalty. Our every act would be an expression of gratitude. This I swear
~Karya to Neferata.
