Karak Zorkai was a duardin karak located in the Realm of Chamon that was destroyed by internal treachery. After it's fall it was remade into a pleasure retreat for Syll'Esske's champions.[1a]

History

Age of Chaos

Karak Zorkai manages to throw back many assaults by Tzeentchian forces, even as the rest of Chamon is ravaged by the armies of the Changer of Ways, thanks to the Gilt Menagerie, war-golems created by Bront Quartzthumb.[1a]

The jubilant hold lavishes Bront with praise and the resources to expand his army, even as he displays unduardinlike obsession with the finer things in life. Stranger still he insists on disposing of the remains of his golems privately. For a time these quirks are ignored, for his success ensures the safety of the hold.[1a]

Eventually, an investigation, led by the hold's clanguard, into a string of disappearances leads to a startling revelation. The mechanical golems of the Gilt Menagerie are powered by sinew and organs from the missing duardin. Though Karak Zorkai rallies to destroy Bront and his Menagerie, it's too late. Syll'Esske, Bront's patron and corruptor, and their Carnival manifests using Bront's corrupt soul as a gateway.[1a]

After the slaughter that follows, Karak Zorkai is remade into a pleasure palace to be used by Syll'Esske's champions.[1a]

Military

When the duardin still ruled Karak Zorkai they were defended by their clanguard and the war-golems of Bront Quatzthumb's Gilt Menagerie. After the fall the hold was overrun by Slaaneshi worshipers.[1a]

Inhabitants

The original duardin inhabitants of Karak Zorkai were slaughtered by Hedonites of Slaanesh led by Syll'Esske, ever since it has served as a pleasure palace.[1a]
