Jade Temple (Stormvault)
The Jade Temple is a Grand Stormvault of comparable size to the Cloister of Ashes. It is found beneath the garden spires of Hammerhal Ghyra while it's peer is found beneath Hammerhal Aqsha on the other side of the Stormrift Realmgate.[1a]
History
Age of Myth
The Jade Temple was constructed during the Age of Myth. Like many Stormvaults it was ostensibly constructed as a place of worship, but it's true purpose was to hide secrets that Sigmar and Alarielle considered best worth hidden. The floral Godbeast known as Ghillnarad Dhor, the Prince of White Flowers, was then tasked with guarding the Jade Temple.[1a]
Age of Sigmar
The Jade Temple's existence was revealed once more to the Mortal Realms during the Necroquake, which damaged the Penumbral Engine atop the temple. Not long after the crew of the Arkanaut Ironclad Dammerung, led by Admiral Hengtsson, heard tale of the temple's existence from the people of Hammerhal Ghyra and mounted an expedition to claim the untold treasure found within it.[3a]
The Dammerung reached the entrance to the 'Jade Temple by going through the caverns deep beneath Hammerhal Ghyra, a feat achieved thanks to the skill of the ship's Aetheric Navigator, Greggun. After reaching their destination Admiral Hengtsson ordered a volley fired at a cavern wall which hid the entrance to the temple. The crew of the ships were then led into the temple by Admiral Hengtsson, Navigator Greggun, and Gunnery Sergeant Sootbeard, who commanded the ship's Grundstok Thunderers.[3a]
The Kharadron are confronted by Ghillnarad Dhor, the Godbeast that guards the temple, after they breach into the amphitheatre of the Jade Temple, who declares that trespassers and thieves are not permitted within the Stormvault. Some of the Thunderers are swatted away by the vines of the Godbeast, but most of the crew are ensnared by the vines and lulled to eternal sleep by Ghillnarad's mournful dirge, the godbeast.[3a]
Locations
- Entrace to the Temple: The entrance to the temple is a cavern of surpassing natural beauty, where clear water pours along smooth walls to creating glimmering rainbows. Clusters of vivid and colorful flora and phosphorescent fungi are scattered about the cavern. A carved, stone bridge found beyond the entrance into the Stormvault. It leads to the centre of a large cavern and a marble staircase. These stairs lead to a colonnaded amphitheatre, this singular unnatural artifice stands out amongst the natural splendours of the rest of the cavern.[3a]
- Amphitheatre: The colonnaded amphitheatre at the centre of the cavern contains a circular courtyard, within it is a platform of black stone. The Stormvault's Penumbral Engine is mounted on top of this platform.[3a]
- Golden Font: Located at the centre of the amphitheatre is a golden font, within which is a seed-like object the size of a Duardin's fist. The object has an organic texture and is warm to the touch, even when felt through Kharadron armor, but quickly heats up in Hengtsson's grip to the point it blisters the skin beneath his gauntlet.[3a]
- Amphitheatre: The colonnaded amphitheatre at the centre of the cavern contains a circular courtyard, within it is a platform of black stone. The Stormvault's Penumbral Engine is mounted on top of this platform.[3a]
Inhabitants
- Ghillnarad Dhor: An ancient Godbeast of the forests of Ghyran whose limbs are a thousand vines. It's song sends all would be invaders into an eternal slumber.[1a]
