House Alten, or the ven Altens, was one of the three noble houses that founded the city of Mournhold in the early days of the Age of Myth and ruled over it until Radukar seized the city after the Necroquake.[1a]

History

Age of Myth

Early in the Age of Myth three dynasties from the Realm of Azyr settled on Szargorond and established a citadel. These noble Houses, Alten, Vossheim, and Gaunt,, came to live peacefully with the resident spirits of the island, who believed strongly in the power of noble lineages. Together the living and the dead transformed the citadel into a thriving, bustling metropolis known as Mournhold.[1a]

Age of Chaos

After Radukar saved the city of Mournhold by Daemon Prince Slaughn's invasion fleet, the Grand Princes of city's noble houses, including House Alten, agreed to give the monstrous Vampire a place in the city's leadership and dominion over the Ebon Citadel.[1a]

Age of Sigmar

Once the Necroquake was unleashed across the Mortal Realms, the island underworld of Szargorond was greatly affected and Radukar made his move to conquer the city. Among the first to fall were the nobles of House Alten, those who were not slaughtered outright were given the Blood Kiss and joined Radukar's Thirsting Court, a cabal of horrific Vampires who would aid in subjugating the city they once governed.[1b]

Members

As with the other noble houses of Ulfenkarn, most of the ven Altens were either wiped out or transformed into Radukar's Thirsting Court. Though at least one scion of the house remains unturned.[1c]
