The Great Cities of Azyr are ancient and prosperous metropolises found in the Realm of Heavens. There are more than a hundred of these impressive cities in the Heavens, greatest of them being the Eternal City of Azyrheim.[1a][1b][1c][2a]

History

Age of Chaos

Once, in the Age of Myth, great cities dotted all the Mortal Realms of the Cosmos Arcane but when the apocalyptic Age of Chaos broke across the Cosmos many fell, including those of the Lantic Empire, the six cities of the Jelaad-Kar, Thyrassus, Elixia, Helstone, Nagashizzar, and Caddow.[2b][3b]

But those in the Realm of Azyr, greatest amongst them being Azyrheim, managed to survive the horrors of the Age of Chaos. It would be in these cities that the Free Peoples prepared for war and prospered, eventually joining the Stormcast Eternals in the wars to reclaim the Realms in the Age of Sigmar.[3a][3b][4a]

The Cities of Sigmar established across the Mortal Realms were founded in large part by Azyrites from the Great Cities of Sigmar.[1b][4a]
