The Gatelands are a region of Bataar named for the dozens of Realmgates scattered throughout the region, the result of mages from Lumnos accidentally causing a singular realmgate in the region to fragment.[2a]

History

Age of Myth

At the height of their power the Bataari constructed the Gilded Track, a grand trade road, which would eventually from their kingdoms all the way to the Beastbridge in the east, much of this road extended through what is now known as the Gatelands.[1a]

Age of Chaos

In the Age of Chaos the Council Pyre of Lumnos, hoping to give themselves a strategic advantage against the forces of Chaos, sent an expedition of their brightest mages to the region now known as the Gatelands to retrieve a recently discovered realmgate.[2a]

Though they had made months of arcane preparation, their attempts to physically move the realmgate resulted in catastrophe. The portal through the Aetheric Void fractured into dozens of other portals scattered across the land for miles. Those few mages who returned to Lumnos alive swore to never again attempt such an experiment.[2a]

Age of Sigmar

Well into the Age of Sigmar much of the Gatelands are menaced by hordes of the Goretide.[1a]
