Fort Foothold is one of the few safe shelters found in the northern sections of the Flamescar Plateau. This along with it's vital location has made it a popular stop over spot and staging ground for expeditions all across the upper regions of central Great Parch, but the unfriendly local garrison, the Footmen, couple with the general disrepair of the fortress make it an uninviting place.[1a]

Overview

The fortress itself is poorly suited for habitation. Due to being carved into a volcanic mountain range it's every surface tends to be either hot to the touch or covered in soot, while it's passages and tunnels are cramped and visitors often find themselves maneuvering along winding halls shoulder to shoulder.[1a]

The Freeguild company garrisoning the fort, the Footmen, rent out sleeping nooks to travelers. Though these are little more than coffin-sized slots in the cavern walls.[1a]

Location

Found to the northwest of Anvilgard Fort Foothold is hewn into the volcanic rock of the Cupricon Range, it sits on a mountain pass that leads both to the Silent City of Sensis and across the mountain range to Golvaria.[1a]
