The Cathargi thalassocracy was a seafaring nation located on the continent of Rondhol in the Ghurish Heartlands. Though the nation fell in the Age of Chaos their sacrifice prevented Gutrot Spume from gaining a foothold on the continent.[1a]

History

Age of Chaos

Though the Cathargi managed to survive well into the Age of Chaos they eventually fell in a devastating naval battle against the Slime Fleet of Gutrot Spume. Due to their sacrifice, the continent of Rondhol was saved from Gutrot's diseases.[1a]

Legacy

Sigmar took note of the valour of the Cathargi during their last battle with Gutrot Spume and claimed thousands of them upon their deaths, reforging themselves into Stormcast Eternals. Their Stormhost, known as the Kraken Blades, carries on many of the traditions of the Cathargi.[1a]

Society

Culture

The Cathargi were a spiritual, seafaring people who held a close connection to the ocean. They adorned themselves in tattoos and ritual markings.[1a]

Religion

The Cathargi worshipped a creature known as Alhar-Kraken, a living embodiment of the rage and ferocity of their home Realm's oceans and a representation of the many-eyed, many-tentacled creatures of the deep. They also saw this creature as a defender of the natural order, who would consume any predator species that threatened to become too dominant.[1a]
