Whirlway
The Whirlways are realmgates found upon the floors of many great lakes, oceans, and seas of the Mortal Realms. These portals are so named due to resembling massive whirlpools.[1a]
History
Age of Myth
The Cythai first discovered the Whirlways beneath the Gealus Ocean, after fleeing from the wrath of Teclis their creator god. They seen discovered that these whirlpool-like realmgates led to other oceans, seas, and lakes found all across the Mortal Realms. When the Cythai divided into six factions, they travelled through these Whirlways and established nations in the seas and lakes they found on the other sides.[1a]
Age of Sigmar
The forces of Tzeentch tamper with many Whirlways that the Idoneth Deepkin have come to rely on. Some of the affected portals transform into vortexes that spew forth daemons, while others become doompools.[1b]
Known Whirlways
Whirlways are underwater Realmgates employed by and often controlled by the Enclaves, many of which built their cities near these vital routes between the Mortal Realms.[1c]
Aqshy
- Fuestrom: The lava rivers found at the bottom of the Mordacious Sound flow into this whirlway. It is the main Realmgate used by the Fuethán.[1c]
- Tinbéal: This whirlway has been abandoned and is considered corrupted.{{Fn|1c}
Chamon
- Myrway: The greatest whirlway of the Realm of Chamon. Controlled by the Ionrach.[1c]
- Oirgaeta: A whirlway controlled by the Oirthar enclave, found in the Dolmen Deeps.[1c]
Ghur
- Clawgaeta: Is a whirlway controlled by the Nautilar enclave.[1c]
- Draktaer: Is a whirlway controlled by the Dhom-hain enclave.[1c]
- Great Ghyrpit: Is a whirlway controlled by the Dhom-hain enclave.[1c]
Ghyran
- Caillegaeta: A whirlway controlled by the Briomdar enclave.[1c]
- Glasway: The largest of the whirlways found in the Realm of Ghyran. Found in the Maithnar Sea.[1c]
- Láthway: A whirlway controlled by the Briomdar enclave.[1c]
- Tolláni: A whirlway controlled by the Motlynians enclave.[1c]
Hysh
- Gealgaeta: A whirlway at the bottom of the Lampleus Sea controlled by the Ilmeth.[1c]
- Léirgaeta: A whirlway leading to Ulgu.[1c]
- Uaimh: The so-called First Whirlway found in the Realm of Hysh. Controlled by the Ionrach.[1c]
Shyish
- Dreáth: A ruined whirlway, that no longer works.[1c]
- Palegaeta: Is the largest of the whirlways found in the Realm of Death and is controlled by the Mor'phann.[1c]
- Rimeway: The whirlway controlled by the Ymmerloc of Helfrost.[1c]
