Stormvermin
Stormvermin are the fighting elite of Verminus clans. Unlike other skaven, these swaggering warriors slaughter methodically, with brutal efficiency, due to their killer instincts and a knack of self-preservation. [1a]
They are led by Fangleaders and supported by Drummers and Standard Bearers. [2b]
Recruitment
As litter-spawn, these skaven are marked out by their impressive physique, their dark-hued fur and their eagerness to violently dominate the lesser kin. Over the course of many years these warriors are trained in brutal conditions. [1a][4a]
Appearance
They are the largest and the most aggressive skaven of the Under-Empire. Distinguishable from miserable litter-mates, Clanrats, by muscular build and well-maintained armour, they represent a truly menacing force. [1a][3][4a]
Social role
Generally, Stormvermin clawpack forms a retinue or bodyguard for anyone from a minor clan chieftain to the mighty Clawlord, defending crucial clan assets such as armouries, food stores or breeder pens. Some of them serve as sentinels and enforcers. In return, Stormvermin are given favoured status with the right to get the choicest spoils and to feed first upon the fallen foes. Sometimes they are even granted their own Skavenslaves and warrens, and any Clanrat stupid or crazy enough to displease them is sure to meet a brutal end. [1][3][4a]
High-ranking leaders, from Grey Seers to Arch-Warlocks to Master Moulders, often hire Stormvermin as bodyguards to show off their status and power. However, even in the service of other Great Clans they often reamin loyal to their birth-clan, a weird feature of their violent breeding and training. If they find out that their temporary lord plots to harm the interests of their own Verminus clan, Stormvermin will hack him apart without a tiny little second thought. [1a][4a]
Combat
In battle they are deployed as vanguard line-breakers and shock troops to break open a strong enemy defence. [1a][4a]
Equipment
Stormvermin have access to the best wargear of Verminus armoury: suits of clanking segmented armour, wickedly-sharp Rusty Halberds and rickety, slipshod Clanshields. [1][2a][2b][4a]
