Bolgo Mammothslugger is part of the Mega-Gargant Beast-smashers duo, who think of themselves as an actual representation of Mork and Gork together. With their friendship unwavering, the two set out on a grand adventure of devastation to uncover Gorkamorka's divine plan.

Origin
Guided by nightly green-tinged visions, Bolgo rampages across Andtor. This lasts for weeks, and initially it lacks a direct goal, but after fighting his way through several ogor Alfrostuns and masses of mutated rat abominations, Bolgo stumbles upon the real target of his hunt. 1a

At the very edge of Shattered Floes, another beast-smasher Mega-Gargant awaits him: Gorb the Knuckle. Both giants lose no time for introduction and engage in a fiery duel, so absorbed with each other that they do not notice when the land upon which their brawl takes place breaks off and drifts on to the freezing Krakensea. 1a

There is no clear winner in their tytanic struggle, as both Mega-Gargants seem to be evenly matched in strength and skill, and neither of them can gain any advantage over the other. In their minds, that can mean only one thing: they are indeed personifications of Gork and Mork, though they do not know who exactly they are. 1a

Inspired by this divine revelation, together they embark on a savage rampage through the frigid wastes of Bjarl that will reveal to them the will of Gorkamorka. 1a

Beast-smashers are Mega-Gargants transformed by Waaagh! wild energies into frenzied killing machines that stalk the Mortal Realms in search of the biggest and most dangerous beasts to slay in order to emulate their Twin-Headed God actions and sate their monstrous apetite for violence and flesh. 1a 1c

Origin
Gargants are naturally sensitive to the greenish primal energies known as the Waaagh! It affects them in various different ways, but in the case of the beast-smashers, those energies actively change them permanently. Their speech degrades, their appearance becomes even more rough and savage, and they tend to drape themselves in skins, horns, and other grizzly trophies from the unfortunate victims that they managed to hunt down. Even their behavior changes to represent the more savage part of their nature; what once could pass off as funny to other gargants now resembles an unending primal mania that grips at their very souls. 1c

Divine Vision
Beast-smashers are far from being just mad and wild; instead, it seems they’ve gained the ability to directly hear the booming voice of their God. The divine connection of that magnitute is quite rare among other gargants, but surely not unheard of. 1b 1c

Their sight is marked by a greenish primal haze, and their souls are filled with raw elemental power. Some gargants gain the ability to perceive reality in the way it was in the days of Gorkamorka rampages in mortal realms; for example, the long deserted sites of old cities and keeps can be seen as thriving locations that invoke the urge to kill and destroy. While in reality, those are nothing more than piles of rubble. All that combined with the inner voices leads some of the gargants to believe they themselves are actually the gods, and the power coursing through them is just proof of that. 1c

Whatever the case, beast-smashers believe they are the closest in spirit to Behemat, and their duty is to rampage and hunt the biggest and most dangerous beasts possible. 1c

Warfare
With their newly acquired primal confidence and unshakable zeal, the Beast-smashers Mega-Gargants stalk the mortal realms far and wide, always in search of a worthy opponent, and if they find one, they do not hesitate for a moment and charge ferociously at their target. Possessing typical gargantuan strength and wielding menhir clubs, they close the distance rapidly and face their prey eye-to-eye. What could be shocking is that, in their frenzy state, they possess unnatural cunning and can adapt their strategy as best they can to defeat their opponent. Their instinct and grit allow them to nullify the monster's deadliest weapons, like toxic breath or magical gaze; they precisely know where and how to strike to kill a rival Gargant or a Dragon with a single mighty hit. 1c

Alliances with other races, similarly affected by the will of the Great Green God, are quite common, and the Beast-smashers are known to work in concert with those who embody the feral and savage nature of their deity. 1c

Smasher Tribes
Mancrusher Gargant, on occasion, can be so impressed with the Beast-smasher prowess and completely enthralled by the wild manic energy that surrounds them that they decide to follow in their footsteps and try their hardest to emulate their idols, much to the sorrow of the Gargant Matriarchs, who tend to warn off their offspring from following this dangerous path. 1c

It is indeed a tough path, even for gargants, and many who try are left mauled or dead by the beasts they hunt, but those who survive and learn the techniques required to kill even the most feroucious beasts form a Smasher Tribe and become a bane of wild creatures and monsters. 1c

The PAGENAME is the sub-realm where the Shadow Council of Verminlords meet to interpret the will of the Great Horned Rat.1a

Access
The only known entrance to the Deepengnaw is via a gnawhole in a crack behind the warpstone throne reserved for the Great Horned Rat in the Masterburrow where the Council of Thirteen meets. This portal is so heavily warded that no mortal could survive passage; it is used only by Skreech Verminking to bring the Great Horned Rat's orders to the Council of Thirteen.1a

Nature
The size and shape of the Deepengnaw is constantly in flux. Its edges cycle unpredictably between various unpleasant motifs reminiscent of the nature of skaven and their Great Clans - quivering flesh, choking smog, shifting shadows, scrabbling masses of claws and fangs, and others besides. There is always the sound of scratching and scrabbling at the edge of hearing, and the sensation of being watched by unseen eyes is omnipresent. The realm is lit in strange shades of green and grey, with mists and shadows with no clear source often obscuring vision. Lightning arcs through the air unpredictably, illuminating the area for scant moments before the shadows return. A chill wind moans through wastes covered in well-gnawed bones, and in the distance an immense bell tolls eternally.1a

The ever-shifting membership of the Shadow Council meets at a huge sigil of the Great Horned Rat carved from warpstone and brass. When these Verminlords meet, each stands on a dias suited to their nature such as tormented flesh, clammy darkness, or strange machinery.1a
By the time the Crusade established the Free City of Verdigris the Ghoulbane Squadron had become officially recognized by Marshal Iscilla Thorian, they would also become her favoured retinue.
The PAGENAME is the chamber atop the Tower of Kavzar in Blight City where the supposed rulers of skavendom, the Council of Thirteen, meet.1a

Appearance
The chamber is large enough for large numbers of troops to be brought in should diplomacy fail. Lining the walls at regular intervals, just outside of effective Warplock Jezzail range, are thirteen smaller towers.1a

Twelve of these towers each have a grand balcony with a dias where a Lord of Decay sits enthroned and surrounded by various trophies and symbols of his power - as well as equipment such as snoutaphones and amplisqueakers, so that the other councillors can hear him when he's haranguing them. These towers are heavily defended against infiltration, magic, disease, and whatever other threats each Lord of Decay can imagine might target them from rivals both within and without the Council of Thirteen; possibly the only thing a Lord of Decay spends more brainpower and warpstone on than the defences of his tower is trying to find a gap in the defences of the towers of his rivals across the chamber.1a

The thirteenth tower has a balcony containing only an oversized throne made of pure warpstone. This is the symbolic seat of the Great Horned Rat on the council, and during especially unsettled times the Verminlord Skreech Verminking has been known to emerge from the crack in the wall at the back of the balcony to sit on the throne and detail to the Council of Thirteen the wishes of their mad god. None of the Lords of Decay would (openly) gainsay Verminking, so at these time the Council speaks with one voice. Over the ages, some arrogant or insane skaven have attempted to investigate the crack from whence Verminking arrives, but none have returned after entering it. It is, in truth, a heavily warded portal to the Deepengnaw, where the Shadow Council of Verminlords meet to interpret their god's will.1a

History
Age of Chaos
In the Great Civil War, the Masterburrow itself is the sight of heavy fighting as rival Lords of Decay bring in their armies. Eventually, Skreech Verminking arrives, punctuating his arrival by annihilating the warring armies in the chamber. He upbraids the Council of Thirteen, pointing out that the other Chaos Gods' followers are expanding their patrons' domains while the Great Horned Rat languishes since his children only fight amongst themselves. He then orders the six current Great Clans to cease fighting and be guided by the Masterclan. To ensure no current or future Lord of Decay goes against his commands, he reduces five of the current Council to slurry. The remainder are suitably quick about fulfilling his orders.1c

Age of Sigmar
Skryre, attempting to consolidate their power and push out their rivals in Pestilens, builds a number of powerful ratling cannon towers and warp-rocket batteries within striking distance of the Tower of Kavzar. Before the Council can decide on a response to this obvious provocation, the necroquake throws Blight City into chaos. Ever opportunists, Skryre "generously" offers to secure the Masterburrow against the unrest, but the Masterclan strenuously objects and hires several Clans Verminus to guard the chamber and ensure the warlock-engineers don't get any ideas.1b

When Master Moulder Things-master Snitterskritch opens a gnawhole to the bottom of the Khaphtar Sea in Shyish, the flooding almost reaches to the Tower of Kavzar. Despite the Council of Thirteen's best efforts, the undead carried with the floodwaters creep ever closer to the Masterburrow, with every one of the Council of Thirteen's plots to defend their chamber stymied by their attempts to get one over on their rivals (and their rivals' attempts to get one over on them). The legendary Grey Seer Thanquol appears and manages to cobble together an effective defence via a series of convoluted plots and alliances between clans and clawpacks that manages to drive back the undead. Once the threat is contained, Thanquol vanishes as suddenly as he appeared.1c
The Brotherhood consisted of Plague Monks fanatically loyal to Kratsik. As part of a plot to discover Alarielle's location, Vermalanx gave Kratsik an urn of ashes to burn in his Plague Furnace in the Glade of Horned Growths in Rotwater Blight in Ghyran. The resultant rot-smog melted all it touched, and the Lady of Vines led a wargrove to stop it. The Walking Trees resemble upturned oak trees with their silver-leafed branches on the ground and their roots waving in the air. They are tall enough loom over the canopies of many of the forests in Rotwater.1b1c

Relationship with Sylvaneth
Powerful sylvaneth are capable of commanding the Walking Trees; in the Battle for the Glade of Horned Growths during the Realmgate Wars, the Lady of Vines exerted her will on a trio of Walking Trees and used them to carry her army through the skaven lines. The PAGENAME was a battle during the Realmgate Wars triggered by the Verminlord Corruptor Vermalanx in an attempt to capture sylvaneth and discover the location of Alarielle. Though his plot failed and his followers, the Brotherhood of the Red Boil, were wiped out by the attacking sylvaneth, the unexpected appearance of Lord-Celestant Gardus Steel Soul of the Hallowed Knights provided him with a clue to the Everqueen's hiding place that he later exploited.1d

Background
Vermalanx, as the Great Horned Rat's primary agent in Ghyran, had realized early in the War of Life that capturing Alarielle was key to breaking sylvaneth resistance. However, despite his best efforts, her location continued to elude him. When Sigmar's Tempest broke across the Mortal Realms, the Verminlord put another scheme in motion.1c

With promises of a spell that could capture a Stormcast Eternal, Vermalanx convinced Grey Seer Skurrik to send agents into Nurgle's Manse to steal an ancient urn containing the ashes of a Treelord. When the urn was delivered to him, Vermalanx provided it to the Plague Priest Kratsik and told him to burn them in his Plague Furnace in the Glade of Horned Growths. Between the burning ashes and other foul concoctions of the Plague Furnace and the Chaos energies of the corrupted realmgate in the centre of the glade, the resultant rot-smog melted flesh, wood, and the very fabric of reality on contact. Vermalanx knew that the sylvaneth would not stand for this insult to the living world, and had Kratsik fortify the glade in preparation for the inevitable battle where he planned to capture a number of tree-spirits and extract any knowledge they had of their goddess' location.1b1c

Meanwhile, following the destruction of the Dirgehorn, the Lady of Vines was eager to maintain her momentum. With the foul dirge silenced, she called out via the spirit-song and gathered a wargrove of spirits eager to revenge themselves on their tormentors. With the backing of the respected Treelord Lorhaldh, she ordered the march to the Glade of Horned Growths to stop the smog.1a

Arboreal Ambush
The skaven's first sign that an attack was coming was the sound of something immense moving through the woods outside the glade - something far larger than even a treelord. The Lady of Vines had brought a trio of the Walking Trees of Rotwater Blight - ancient tree-spirits that resembled nothing so much as upside-down dead trees walking on their branches with their roots waving in the air. Within each hollow trunk was an army of dryads and other sylvaneth. Once the Walking Trees broke through the first line of skaven defence, the sylvaneth within the trees - dryads, treelords, branchlings and more - used vines to come down from the trees to press their advantage.1d

Once the skaven had committed to attacking the sylvaneth vanguard, the main strength of the sylvaneth wargrove descended. While too late to save the majority of the first wave of volunteers, the sylvaneth wreaked havoc amongst the Plague Monks of the Brotherhood. The leaders of the skaven force, Kratsik and Skurrik, knew that they needed to act.1d

Aid Arrives
Skurrik had remained far from the action, near to the realmgate at the centre of the glade. Deciding that the attack was serious enough to call for aid from another force of allies. He scratched a rune before the glowing gate, causing a pulse of sickly green light to shoot into the sky. In the distance, the moaning sound of Rotbringer horns sounded, responding to their ally's call. However, the realmgate pulsed again, and Skurrik was aghast to see a figure in filthy silver armour emerge from it. Panicking, the Grey Seer vanished in a cloud of magical smoke.1d

Kratsik commanded the Plague Censer to release its great censer. The smoking metal ball swung out over the battlefield, sending rot-smog fumes to engulf sylvaneth and skaven alike. When the smoke cleared, dozens of dryads and Plague Monks had been dissolved. Seeing that the treelord Lorhaldh had been heavily wounded by the smog, Kratsik scampered forward and smashed his plague censer into the treelord's face, killing him.1d

When the Rotbringers arrived, the sylvaneth rear lines struggled to hold them. The tree-spirits were cut down in great numbers until the filth-encrusted form of Gardus Steel Soul, recently arrived from the Garden of Nurgle via the glade's corrupted realmgate, charged into the Rotbringers. His righteous fury blazed brightly around him, burning away the sludge on his armour and setting the corrupted warriors around him alight. Given time to regroup, the sylvaneth joined the counter-assault.1d

Thellembhol, enraged at the death of Lorhaldh, smashed into the Plague Furnace, tipping it on its side and causing the great censer to split and spill hot ashes over the skaven surrounding it. The Brotherhood of the Red Boil melted in the smog of their own weapon. Then, as Kratsik attempted to call the absent Vermalanx for aid, the treelord smashed him into pulp.1d

Consequences
With the glade secured, the Lady of Vines spoke with Gardus. Hearing that he wished to lead his fellow Hallowed Knights to Athelwyrd, she reasoned that the Stormcast Eternals might be able to stir Alarielle from her isolation where the sylvaneth had failed, and offered to return him to his stormhost. Unknown to them, their conversation was overheard by Vermalanx, who had lurked in the shadows undetected throughout the battle. In addition, the Grey Seer Skurrik, still hoping to capture a Stormcast Eternal, stealthily followed Gardus as he rejoined his fellows. This ultimately led to the forces of Nurgle discovering the entrance to Athelwyrd and the Battle of the Hidden Vale.1d1e
