Saurus Guard.

The Saurus Guard are a type Saurus spawned specifically for defensive purposes, notably as the elite bodyguards of their Slann masters. Saurus Guard cohorts are each led by an alpha.[1c][2]

Spawning

Saurus Guard are differ from other Seraphon as they do not exit spawning pools in cohorts but in ones and twos to replace the fallen guardians. After their spawning they silently walk to the armouries of their new brothers where they wordlessly take up weapons. Then they fall into rank with their kin as if they have fought together for decades. The Saurus Guard’s have incredibly thick scales that can even withstand attacks that penetrate the hides of Saurus Warriors.[1c]

Role

The Saurus Guards are masters of defensive warfare and are almost invulnerable within their shield walls as waves enemy forces crash against them. They form a wall of scale and snapping jaws around a Starmaster and will never abandon their master during battle. Even in times of peace other Seraphon must approach the slann with care as they are known for cutting down over-eager skinks.[1c] In addition to their role as bodyguards they are also responsible for guarding the most sacred areas of a Seraphon ziggurat such as concentrations of vitrified realmstone, scrying-chambers filled with astromantic technology and shrines to the Old Ones. These cohorts of Saurus Guard remain still as they are covered by the dust of decades as if they are statues. However at the first sight of an intruder they will rapidly move to eliminate threat with shocking speed and efficiency.[1c]

Promotion

Amongst the Saurus Guards, one exceptional Saurus may be chosen to personally defend a Slann Starmaster, known as an Eternity Warden.[1b] An Eternity Warden may be in direct command of several groups of Saurus Guard.[1a] Saurus Guards will generally fight harder around Eternity Wardens, for to be founding lacking in conviction to their duty is considered a fate worse than death to these warriors.[1b]

Wargear

They are each armed with Celestite Polearms and shields. Some carry either Stardrake Icons or Wardrums.[1c][2]
