Valagharr the Betrayer was once a spell-smith without peer. He served as an advisor to no less a personage than the God-King and is said to have stood alongside Sigmar in many battles. He was the foremost Amethyst Archmage of his time and the highest scholarly authority on the nature of Shyishan magic.

But he came to worship death, to worship the Great Necromancer and betrayed the forces of Order. He gave many of Azyr's secrets away to his new master and in exchange was granted power and lands, transcending beyond anything that could reasonably be called mortal. Many champions of the Realm of Heavens would attempt to slay him for the betrayal, but none succeeded until Grandmaster Huras of the Eldritch Council led an assault on Valagharr's lands. Huras and his companions defeated the betrayer, shattered his physical body, and sealed Valagharr's soul in a phylactery of Azyrite starstone.
