The Lore of Fire, also known as Bright Magic, refers to a class of magic and spells that show the dominant colour and hold the elemental characteristics of the Realm of Aqshy, the realm of fire.[1][3a] Fire is the heart of Aqshy's magic, and it is raging passions that burn the spirit and blazing flames that incinerate flesh. It is the haze of the deep desert, the gasp following the first breathless kiss, and the rage of bitter defeat.[3a]

The Legion of Azgorh is closely bound to their home realm of Realm of Aqshy and are able to utilize the Realmsphere Magic of Aqshy beyond the realm. Therefore, spells such as Fireball are readily available to the Legion's Daemonsmiths and their great Sorcerer-Prophet Drazhoath.[6] Conversely, a warband of fighters uninitiated it in the magical arts that get closer to the Edge of Aqshy may find themselves able to manifest minor spells. This may include summoning magical flames, imbuing their weaponry with aetheric flame, or simply the power to radiate a gentle warmth.[2c] Since the Shyish Necroquake, the bright mages of Aqshy gleaned information from buring embers, while Auric Runesmiters and Firebellies alike read portents in magma flows. The common people of Aqshy have likewise observed after-effects of the Necroquake. For example, a local healer might now snap their fingers and produce an arcane flame, a quasi-charlatan may suddenly be able to make sparks out of thin air. Mages that were already powerful enough to cast battle magic found a new fiery arsenal of spells at their disposal, such as sending out scorching blasts or wreathing the blades of an entire regiment in aetheric flame.[2a]

While present in the Realm of Aqshy, some spells in this lore become intuitively known to wizards in addition to their other spells.[1][2]

From the Ashes The caster summons a small phoenix made of flame, which guards their soul in the event of their death. Should the caster die while the spell is active, the flames of the phoenix consumes their form, leaving only a pile of ash, only to later crawl back to life from the ashes.
