Lexicanum: Taxonomy
This project seeks to collect knowledge on how creatures in the Mortal Realms are classified.
Daemon Keyword in Warscrolls
In the early releases of Age of Sigmar, the Incarnate Elementals and the Seraphon(except the Slann) had the Daemon keywords on their Warscrolls. The Daemon keyword for both type of creatures were later removed. For the Seraphon, this represented the fact that they were beings of order whose minds and bodies are made of Azyrite energy, but were later retconned as to being creatures of flesh. The Incarnate Elementals never received a justification.
Gods of the Grand Alliance of Chaos
There is some confusion on the terms/taxonomy of the gods worshipped by the Grand Alliance of Chaos. Here's an analysis that seeks to explain it to the best of our knowledge.
- Dark Gods: A term for 5 members of the ruling pantheon of Chaos: Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch, Slaanesh and the Great Horned Rat, the last which is noted as recent addition to the pantheon after the End Times. This term is sometimes used as meaning the same as Ruinous Powers, aspects of chaos and Chaos God
- Hashut has dark god in a product description of one of the Legion of Azgorh units, but this term is used in lowercase and his title is the "Father of Darkness". This with the limited number of members of the pantheon implies he is not part of it.
- Brothers in Darkness: A term used to refer to the four original Chaos Gods, Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch and Slaanesh, who are described as dark siblings. This term explicitly excludes the Great Horned Rat.
- Chaos God: A term for Elemental Deities formed from the Realm of Chaos. Currently only used for the Dark Gods: Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch, Slaanesh.
- In Fantasy Battles there were many Chaos Gods labelled as such, but in Age of Sigmar that terms seems to be avoided outside of the main term and instead other terms like Daemon-God and Aspect of Chaos is used. The Great Beast, Kweethul, Malal, Khakkek, Atagro, Meneloth and Mermedus didn't make the transition.
- Hashut is still worshipped by the Legion of Azgorh, but the term Chaos Gods seems to have been dropped in favour of Daemon-God.
- Necoho is only mentioned in the title of a book written by a group of anti-theists. The AoS Lexicanum uses FB data to mark him as a Chaos Gods, because there is little else otherwise.
- Zuvassin is indirectly hinted at existing in the Age of Sigmar setting by the character Zuvass.

- Daemon-God: A term used for some Chaos-worshipped deities. Might mean the same as Archdaemon Known examples are Hashut and the Great Gatherer.
- Aspect of Chaos: A term used for some Chaos-worshipped deities, entities and interpretations. This term is never in uppercase. Known examples are: Great Gatherer, Ever-Raging Flame and the Devourer of Existence.

- Some gods have also been corrupted by the powers of Chaos, through so far that has been exclusive to Godbeasts. Argentine (Tzeentch and Ignax (Archaon through the Slayer of Kings). Archaon and Nurgle colluded to corrupt Behemat during the Realmgate Wars, but this plan was foiled.
- The Coiling Ones worshipped by the Splintered Fang claim to be Gods and descended from Godbeast Nagendra.
