Kharza was a kingdom in the Realm of Ghur. [1]

It was ruled by Priest-Kings from the Dragonseat, a powerful magical artefact created by the Magi of Yordo that protected those of royal blood seated in it from any assassins or magic. [1g] Only a priest-king was allowed to touch the throne and although many tried to replicate it, man and duardin alike, they all failed. [1b]

History

Knight-Incantor Arnhault recalls Mammoths helping gather the harvest in exchange for fruit and bushels of spring grass. [1a] There were huge orchards of almond and peach trees, swathes of hillside covered in grape vines and landscapes of wheat and corn fields.

Margraves were gifted with riches so they could defend the borders, throwing back orruk hordes for ten generations. The kingdom was able to build many great keeps and temples but by the Age of Sigmar these were all in ruins. [1c]

However, even the mighty armies of Kharza were unable to defeat the invasion by the forces of Chaos and as the made a stand under their king Volkhard they were betrayed by his brother. The kingdom fell and by the time the Stormcast came to it following the Necroquake, Sabrodt had devastated the land, tainting it with the energies of Shyish. First encountering him in the town of Wrymditt, the Stormcast then confronted him in his stronghold and defeated him. [1]

Locations

  • Koenigshoff: The Capital of the kingdom. [1c]
  • Wyrmditt: A town which was once within the border marches of the kingdom. [1b] It is located on the edge of vast geyser fields which rise from their boiling pools creating a mist which shrouds the town. Rare minerals are also projected from them, which were gathered by the people and traded. [1d]
  • The Wyrm River: Created from the blood of the demi-dragon Zhaan, it was a major trade route for the kingdom. [1d]

Military

The Kingdom used a variety of units, working together to provide an effective fighting force. They had lamellar armoured noble cavalry, war dogs, freeholder pikemen as well professional archers paid by the temples and nobles. The Priest-king and his black chainmail clad bodyguard fought on foot. [1f]

Notable

Religion

The people of Kharza worshipped the Pantheon including Sigmar and Nagash as well as Taal. [1b][1c]
