Huntmaster of Kurnoth

From Age of Sigmar - Lexicanum
Jump to: navigation, search

The Huntmaster of Kurnoth or Royal Huntmaster is the leader of the Kurnoth Hunters and one of the members of the Royal Moot of the Sylvaneth since Alarielle's rebirth in the early Age of Sigmar.[1a][2a]

Role

The Huntmaster's role in Sylvaneth government is complex and lacks a single direct equivalent in the high councils of the "quickbloods" like the Grand Conclaves of the Free Cities or the Geldraad of the Kharadron. It can best be described as a combination of Captain of the Guard, martial advisor to the Royal Moot, Everqueen's spymaster, and High Priest of Kurnoth. What is clear, however, is his authority over the Kurnoth Hunters; only Alarielle stands higher in their esteem, and the Huntmaster and the Everqueen are coordinating their Hunters to some end that not even the rest of the Royal Moot is privy to.[1a]

Identity

Meetings of the Royal Moot are always attended by a single Kurnoth Hunter who claims to be the Huntmaster. However, it is obvious to the other regular attendees that no one Kurnoth Hunter regularly attends the Moot. It remains unclear if the actual Huntmaster attends on occasion (sometimes changing his appearance) and sends a representative at other times, if the purported Huntmasters are regular Kurnoth Hunters possessed by the actual Huntmaster, or even if no true Huntmaster exists and the attendees are avatars of Kurnoth himself. Probably only Alarielle knows the truth.[1a]

Reception

As a relatively new member of the Royal Moot - and one on whose counsel Alarielle heavily relies - the Huntmaster has naturally met with some resistance from the more established members of the Moot. The Keeper of Dreadwood Glade has been the most vocal decrier of the influence of the Huntmaster, arguing that Alarielle's long-loyal Regents should be her primary advisors, not some anonymous upstart.[1a]
