Gholemkind were one of the races that lived on the western islands of the Godwrought Isles, along with Duardin and Humans, during the Age of Myth.[1a]

Characteristics

The Gholemkind structured themselves into clans and had forges powered by Chamonite. Much like the Duardin and humans of Chamon who they lived beside.[1a]

History

Age of Myth

The Godwrought Isles, one of the Nineteen Wonders of Chamon, are created by Grungni after he was freed from bondage by the God-King. Grungni gifts each of these perfectly straight islands to one of his clans of worshipers, which include Gholemkind, Humans, and Duardin.[1a] The clans of these three races prosper from the minerals they mine from their new homes.[2b]

Grungni's many wonders ensure that his followers live in prosperity and peace for eighty generations, though not even the Great Maker could forge civilizations that were immune to greed. Eventually Chamonite is found in abundance in the central regions of the Godwrought Isles and it swiftly becomes the basis of industry and economy in the Isles, used as both a currency and in every forge. The Gholemkind clans of the western Isles are among those who prosper the most from this lucrative substance.[1a]

Tribal federations and gleaming empires form among the Human, Duardin, and Gholemkind clans of the Godwrought Isles. Many of these compete, and even war, with one another for control of deposits of Chamonite, oftentimes strip mining the lands they conquer.[1a][2a]

Age of Chaos

Rather than face the horrors of the Age of Chaos the Gholemkind chose to seal themselves in their cog-halls.[4a]

Age of Sigmar

Gholemkind have been sighted on the Sky-port of Barak-Urbaz since the Arcanum Optimar.[3a] But it would not be until the Era of the Beast, and the return of Grungni, that the ancient race would reemerge from their cog-halls en masse, using flare-cannonades to catch the attention of the airfleets of the Kharadron Empire. The reemerged Gholemkind seek to find a new realmstone power source, believing that the Maker God can help them acquire it.[4a]

As early as the Era of the Beast there have been Gholemkind sited among the ranks of Greywater Fastnes and its Dawnbringer Crusades, operating as mercenaries.[5a]

Religion

The Gholemkind clans of the western Godwrought Isles were worshipers of Grungni, who originally gifted the isles to them and the neighboring Human and Duardin clans.[1a]
