Of the Gaunt Summoners of Tzeentch, little is known, save that there can only be nine at one time and that they are one of the most powerful order of sorcerers dedicated to Tzeentch. They are daemon-sorcerers, faceless but with a myriad of glistening eyes, from the Crystal Labyrinth of Tzeentch.[1][3c][3d][4]
The Gaunt Summoners are the masters of the Silver Towers, ever-changing arcane fortresses that link the Realm of Chaos to the Mortal Realms.[2]
They have served Archaon ever since the Everchosen enslaved them during the Age of Chaos.[1][3c][3e][4]
History
They have served Archaon ever since the Everchosen enslaved them during the Age of Chaos.[1][4] After enslaving of Gaunt Summoners, Archaon being angry at their unwillingness to serve him took one of the senses of each of them.[5]
The Summoners hid the location of the imprisoned daemon lord of Tzeentch, Kaithanus from their master, hoping to use its knowledge to gain power over him.[7] Archaon summoned them to great conclave together with many Chaos Sorcerers to ambush the Slann Iquala and his Seraphon army.[2a]
Combat
Magic
They are able to twist reality with their incantations or engulf whole armies in warpfire. Known to be responsible for some of the most horrifying atrocities of the Age of Chaos.[1][4] They are masters of sorcery and dark arcane that can easily turn his foes into Chaos Spawn or annihilate them completely with the iridescent fires of Tzeentch.[3b] They are so powerful they are surrounded in cloaks of sorcerous miasma and illusion, with fear and lies swirling around them.[1][3a][4]
As a Daemon mage of terrible power he can cast two different spells or unbind two spells at the same time. Like all wizards he knows the Arcane Bolt and Mystic Shield spells. They can cast a Fractal Mindstorm, which turns the enemy's mental strength against itself, or Infernal Flames, that engulfs an area in scorching wyrdfire.[3a][3b]
Companions
Gaunt Summoners can be accompanied by a quartet of lesser Daemons, known as Chaos Familiars. They provide with a myriad of benefits, like making it easier for the mage to strike with his blade, make enemies more vulnerable, focusing their sorcery, or make it harder to hit the summoner. They will sometimes take blows to protect their master from damage.[3a][3b]
Mount
Gaunt Summoners can ride a Disc of Tzeentch into battle, which grants them the ability to glide across the battlefield and keep them out of reach of their foes with impressive feats of agility and evasion. Additionally, the disc can also attack with its blades and stingers.[3a][3e]
Wargear
They can be armed with Chargestaves, a Warptongue Blade and a Book of Profane Secrets[3a][3b]
Changestaves are ranged weapons capable of blasting the iridescent fire of Tzeentch at his foes.[3a][3b]
Warptongue Blades are melee weapons that cause the body of anybody cut with it to be wracked with uncontrollable and sickening mutations.[3a][3b]
The Book of Profane Secrets are tomes of fell incantations that can temporarily divert the path of a Realmgate to summon Daemons from the Realm of Chaos. Some of the most common Daemons summoned are Bloodletters, Daemonettes, Plaguebearers, Pink Horrors and Chaos Furies.[3a][3b][3c][3d][3e]
