Furios Peak is the largest mountain in the Cynder Peaks and the capital of the Vostarg Lodge of Fyreslayers.[1a][2a]

The Mountain

Furious Peak is approximately in the centre of the Cynder Peaks, and the Fyreslayers have constructed magmaducts from the outlying volcanoes into the mountain to transport molten rock to fuel their forge-fires. The road to the main gate of the magmahold is known as the Thousand Stairs; while this steep path may have been maintained and expanded by the Fyreslayers of the magmahold, the core route was trodden by Urgom-Grimnir himself.[1b][2a]

The Magmahold

The magmahold itself is a monumental feat of engineering, with layers of stonework stretching from near the caldera down deep into the crust. The many generations of Runefathers who have ruled the hold have expanded its defences so that now everything from the main gates to the great passages within the mountain can be sealed at a moment's notice via cunningly fashioned gates, triggered rockfalls, or redirected magma flows. The current Vostargi Runefather, Bael-Grimnir, has spent a great deal of treasure to reinforce and improve these defences following enemies breaching the gates in the early Age of Sigmar, and now almost the entire layout of the hold can be changed via levers and hidden mechanisms.[1b][3a]

History

Age of Chaos

  • The wandering Vostarg come upon the Cynder Peaks. Realizing the potential of the region and the amount of ur-gold and magmadroth eggs in the area, Urgom founds a magmahold at the top of the Thousand Stairs and becomes the first Runefather of Furios Peak.[2a][3a]
  • The forces of Chaos attempt many times to take the magmahold, but all are repulsed.[4a]

Age of Sigmar

  • Archaon tasks Agtor Bruul with the destruction of the Cynder Peaks Fyreslayers. The Lord of Khorne's assault on Furios Peak succeeds in breaching the gates, but cunning use of the hold's inner defences allows Bael-Grimnir and his Runesons to ambush the invaders in the forge-temple and slay Bruul, causing the Bloodbound warhorde to lose cohesion and be destroyed.[1b][3a]
  • The skaven under Rikfang breach the lower levels and manage to desecrate the forge-temple and carry off Bael-Grimnir's first-born Runeson, Baelsson, before being pushed back into their holes by the Vostarg counter-attack. While the warlord manages to escape through a gnawhole with his captive, many skaven are slain and the breaches sealed.[3a][4a][4b]
  • The Stormcast Eternals arrive at the tail end of the skaven breach. Despite initial Fyreslayer fears of another foe so soon and the lingering desire to search for the missing, diplomacy prevails and the Vostarg agree to lead a force of Stormcast Eternals to assault Bloodkeep in return for a large payment of gold. Thus begins the fruitful alliance between the forces of Sigmar and the Vostarg Lodge.[3a][4c]
