Akhelian Guard of Briomdar

The Briomdar Enclave, also known as the City of Seers [3a], is one the greater enclaves of the Idoneth Deepkin. Although they are soul-slavers like the rest of the Deepkin, they have made the most progress in unlocking the secrets of healing their souls [1b]

Reflecting their home, they are often clad in clothing and armour of a deep blue-green hue whilst striking red coloured helms reflect the red kelp. [1d]

History

Age of Myth

Fleeing from the light of reason of their creator god, Teclis, the Cythai splintered into six factions and sought the deep places of the Mortal Realms. [1a]

A new colony is formed within the Green Gulch in the Realm of Ghyran by Ionrach – they create a citadel in the heart of undersea forest which they name Crannstok. [1b]

Age of Chaos

Many raids are carried out by the enclave – but rather than seeking souls, the Briomdar cull the beastmen who are infesting the once verdant lands of the Sylvaneth, however they make no alliance with the tree-folk. [1a]

Age of Sigmar

Green Gulch is attacked by the followers of Nurgle led by a trio of Great Unclean Ones. They are only defeated with the aid of a force from Ionrach led by Volturnos who himself kills the greater daemons. [1a]

The Necroquake in the Time of Tribulations results in massive assaults on all the deepkin across the realms. [1a]

After ruling for 83 years, Queen Lágethe dies and her son Lurien expects to inherit at the subsequent assembral but he is challenged and defeated by Vanglyr Fellglaive who imprisons the prince and takes the throne. [3a]

Jade Throne

The ruler of the enclave sits on the Jade Throne, an artefact of aquamarine, jade, whale ivory and living coral which adjusts to each new King or Queen. [3a]

Society

Agriculture

A number of aquatic species are cultivated by the enclave's Namarti fishherds as livestock. These include caleth, laurai, and jagaire.[4a]

Locations

The city is surrounded by mines and hunting grounds but few travel into open water unless they had to.[3c]

  • Entablature: A hundred foot tall glowing monument displaying the heroes and gods of the Cythai and legends of the Asur. [3b]
  • Lower City. [3b]
    • Markets: Traders and goods flows around and through the city markets, almost exclusively by Idoneth - this includes coral artefacts and glowstones, fish, live beasts from the Gulch, ink, ivory and pearls. [3b]
  • Spires: The city has twenty one great spires rising from the sea bed, each representing a tennent of wisdom or truth that Teclis imparted to the Cythai. They form a three ringed mandala, each dedicated to the lost gods. The outer ring has fourteen spires, the middle seven, surrounding the central spire of gold and turquoise, built atop the Crannstock, the orginal wooden citadel and housing the Jade Palace. [3b]
    • Tor Anath: Huge blue spire and Tidegate. [3b]

Notable Citizens

Whirlways

The have control over a number of Whirlways that enable them to move and communicate across the Realms. [1d]

Quotes

You cannot run from the Briomdar. Their soulscryers could follow the soul of a fly through the Garden of Nurgle. And guide the phalanx there to retrieve it.

~Lurien Soultaker.[2]
