The Battle of Frozen Grief was the last stand of Springleaf Glade in the War of Life.[1b]

Background

The enclave of Rimewald served as a gathering point for the sylvaneth fleeing other Springleaf enclaves following the fall of their capital, Dappelloren. Knowing that the Maggotkin would soon attack Rimewald as well, the Treelord Ancient Scrioshal attempted to rally these remnants to face the invaders with the support of the wintry forests about the enclave.[1a][1b][2a]

Scattering of Springleaf

Despite the best efforts of Scrioshal and the other sylvaneth who chose to make a stand, they were overwhelmed. The survivors were forced to scatter into the wilderness as the victorious Maggotkin destroyed their glade's last enclave.[1b]

Legacy

Following the Battle of Frozen Grief, Springleaf Glade as it had been was no more. When Scrioshal finally reunited the scattered remnants of the glade, they took on the name Winterleaf in recognition of the cold forests where they had hidden from Nurglite forces attempting to hunt them down. Now, Winterleaf Glade hides their enclaves in tundra and other cold or barren lands. The only warmth in the glade now is the heat of their hatred for Chaos.[1b]
